TURTLE COVE P.O.A BOARD MEETING 3-13-07 IN ATTENDANCE LINDA BERNARD, AMANDA CREWS, RAY RUNGE, KATHY ABOOD, BOBBY MITCHELL, EMILU BAILES, RHETT GLOVER, DON JERNIGAN Meeting called to order 7:35 Motion: motion by Kathy to approve minutes, 2nd Don Vote: Passed unanimously OLD BUSINESS Deadline for newsletter is 3-19-07 next month is 4-16-07. Sunday 3-17-07 meeting w/ B.O.D., the restaurant will be open. Board previously approved spending $85 for web site management. We did not have to spend this money. NEW BUSINESS Treasurers Report given by Rosemary Dean. Guesstimate that 700 property owners have paid their dues so far. Operating funds were $227,463 and reserve fund were $245,988 for a total of $473,452. Balance sheet still out of balance will be corrected when auditor returns. The negative $6000 shown in water was to correct January entry. Restaurant and Lounge figures together in the black by $600. Receipts from decals will be over amount budgeted due to the fact that this line item was an estimated figure when put in the budget. Water Report given by Ray Runge – Pipe for Nuthatch well has been laid. Power to go in next week, should be up & running in 2 months. Golf Report given by Don Jernigan – Greens were aerated yesterday for the first time in several years. Jack & Jill tournament is at the end of this month. April 7th is the Shiners’ tournament to benefit burned children. As of now, the Duffers Den hours will remain the same during the week, but we may extend them on Saturday’s & Sunday’s. Beach Report given by Bobby Mitchell. Pheasant Beach has been cleaned twice, Runner has also been cleaned. Parrott will be cleaned this weekend. Thank you to the 4 volunteers that have been contributing to the beach clean up. Tennis Report given by Rhett Glover. The tennis program has been expanding as weather is getting warmer. Someone has been leaving the court lights on over night. Bobby will check into the cost of putting a timer on the light system, estimated figure of $200.00 with Bobby donating labor. We have had some vandalism to the chairs & ball hopper on the court. Budget Committee NO REPORT Office Report given by Emilu Bailes. New bookkeeper for the office has been interviewed. In the March staff meeting several members of the staff commented that they have too many bosses, please go through the liaison in regard to staff. The following is a list of a few items that the BOD has considered putting to committees:
TCPOA web site is now being updated twice a month A&E Report- No report given Community Relations- No report given Pool Report given by Amanda Crews. Ray Runge & Vickie Middleton will be attending pool school on March 19th & 20th. Pool will open Memorial Day. Restaurant Report given by Linda Bernard. Restaurant & Lounge combined made $600 in the month of February. New menu ideas will be coming soon we will be trying some new things. Please direct any feedback to Linda. Legal Report given by Kathy Abood. We still do not have a date for the Crawford III case. The Dues Increase Committee has been in constant contact w/ TC lawyers to make sure we have all of our I’s dotted & T’s crossed. Entertainment Report given by Kathy Abood. St. Patty’s day is this Friday. TC will host a St. Patrick’s Day party in the lounge. Sunrise Service Easter morning will be conducted by Sheriff Roper. Breakfast immediately following donated by Nita Oaks in memory of Richard Oaks. Egg hunt will start at 2:00 on Easter. March 31 we will have trivia night w/ Ken Rose. Security Report given by Arnold Fulgram. Everything has been slow, & fairly quiet. Security staff is preparing for the summer. Motion: Motion by Don to correct January Minutes to reflect that the JLVFD is not manned 24 hrs by Fire fighters. Only manned by EMS 24 hours, 2nd Linda. Vote: Passed unanimously. Motion: Motion by Linda to approved spending up to $1,200 for surveys for A&E, 2nd Kathy. Vote: Passed 6/0 w/ 2 abstentions Emilu asked that property owner please volunteer your time to make TC a better place. Comments from the floor James Peak - Dock @ Whippoorwill looks great. Problem w/ some property owners mail being thrown out on to the street, please be on the lookout for people messing w/ mailboxes. Can we play golf on Thanksgiving if we have our own cart? – Don’s response- Yes, but the Duffers Den will be closed. David Rutherford – Has TC considered charging to use the boat ramps? Have we considered raising the price of golf? Charging more for water use? – Emilu’s response- Committee’s have been in place for all of these matters. It is the recommendation of the committee’s that a dues increase is the best solution to these problems. Meeting recessed 10 minutes until executive session |
